From May 28 to 29, Meng Ting, Party Secretary of the School, and Liu Zhihai, Dean of the School, led a delegation to Beijing to attend the seminar themed "Fostering a Sound View of Performance, Charting a New Blueprint for Development" — the Dual Integration and Dual Promotion Seminar of Schools of Physics of Seven Universities Affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Hosted by Beijing Institute of Technology, the conference aims to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully fulfill the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, leverage the critical period for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan, and solidly advance the in-depth integration of Party building and institutional development as well as the dual improvement of high-quality development and connotation construction. Zhang Yu and Jiang Haili, Vice Deans of the School, and Zhang Xiaojun, Assistant to the Dean, participated in the seminar together.

In the special report and exchange session on the 15th Five-Year Plan, representatives from the seven Schools of Physics delivered separate presentations centering on the Plan. They reported the achievements made and existing problems of their respective schools during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and conducted in-depth exchanges on planning measures covering Party building, discipline development, research layout, talent recruitment and cultivation. All participants reached a consensus that sound planning for future development is premised on fostering a firm and sound view of performance, taking the effectiveness of fostering virtue through education as the fundamental criterion, studying and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions on strengthening basic research, boosting disciplinary development to advance cross-integration between basic research and core disciplines of each university, promoting original innovation and the transformation of research achievements, and advancing the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation. Through mutual learning and reference, all schools further clarified their development orientations and reform directions, forming a consensus on coordinating disciplinary development, talent team building and scientific and technological innovation under the leadership of Party building. In particular, multiple universities shared replicable experiences and innovative ideas regarding talent recruitment and the optimization of research mechanisms, laying a solid foundation for subsequent inter-university cooperation and resource sharing.

During the conference, participants also held a joint thematic Party Day activity and jointly visited the exhibition hall "Upholding the Backbone of the Nation — People’s Military Industry" at Beijing Institute of Technology. The exhibition hall systematically documents the development of China’s military industry from scratch and from weakness to strength, and vividly presents Beijing Institute of Technology’s mission and responsibility in serving national defense strategies and advancing military industry scientific and technological innovation. The visit enabled all attendees to deeply understand that fostering a sound view of performance means consciously integrating personal and institutional development into national strategic demands, and advancing the coordinated development of basic disciplines and defense science and technology with persistent dedication. Later, the group toured the National Information Technology Application Innovation Park. As a key national platform for scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation, the Park brings together high-level research platforms and cutting-edge technological outcomes, demonstrating China’s capacity for independent innovation and integrated development in strategic emerging sectors. The visit further deepened participants’ recognition that scientific research must avoid quick success and instant benefits; instead, researchers should uphold the right orientation and maintain a long-term vision to truly deliver innovative achievements serving national needs.

The seminar further refined the dual integration and mutual promotion mechanism of "Party Building + Professional Work" among the seven Schools of Physics, and built a resource-sharing platform for comprehensive ideological and political education. The seven Schools of Physics will continue to leverage the guiding role of Party building, empower high-quality institutional development through a series of joint study and co-construction activities under the "Party Building +" framework, embed the fostering of a sound view of performance into the entire process of teaching, scientific research and administration, and jointly open up a new chapter for the development of all seven Schools of Physics.
