Good News! Physics Students Win Two Silver Awards at the Heilongjiang Provincial Competition of the National College Student Career Planning Contest!

Spring breeze brings warmth and good news arrives in quick succession! Recently, the Heilongjiang Provincial Selection of the 3rd National College Student Career Planning Contest, also known as the "Kunshan Qiuti Cup" 13th Heilongjiang Provincial College Student Career Planning Competition Grand Final, was successfully concluded at Northeast Forestry University. Under the guidance of instructors Wang Yuge and Wang Ziming from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, 2023 undergraduate student Wei Lijia and master's degree student Zhang Zeli stood out among 410,000 participants across the province with their solid professional foundation, clear career paths, well-conceived planning schemes, and outstanding on-site performances, successfully winning two provincial silver awards in the undergraduate growth track and the graduate employment track respectively, fully demonstrating the youthful vigor of physics students.

The contest was hosted by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education and jointly organized by the Heilongjiang Provincial Center for College Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance, Northeast Forestry University, Heilongjiang University, and Heilongjiang Vocational College of Architecture. With the theme "Building Dreams and Aspirations, Planning to Navigate the Future," it stands as one of the highest-level, most widely covered, and most influential events in the field of career education in the province. Launched in October 2025, the contest attracted 410,000 students from 80 higher education institutions across the province. After multiple rounds of competition including university-level selections, provincial semi-finals, and the final, a total of 52 gold awards, 81 silver awards, and 121 bronze awards were selected, with particularly fierce competition. Our university achieved outstanding results, winning a total of 10 gold awards (9 in student tracks, 1 in the teacher teaching track), 10 silver awards (7 student awards, 3 teacher awards), and 3 bronze awards, setting a new record in both total awards won and competition rankings.

In the undergraduate growth track, 2023 undergraduate student Wei Lijia, under the theme "With a Pure Heart, Forge the Core of a Powerful Nation," systematically elaborated on the growth path from academic accumulation to career development, showcasing excellent academic performance during university. Combined with practical experiences such as serving as a member of the National Flag Guard, organizing campus activities, and participating in volunteer services, he systematically expounded a six-dimensional competency model centered on "the depth to explore the principles of things, the sharpness to dare to break and establish, the precision to strive for excellence, the warmth to collaborate for mutual progress, the tenacity to tackle difficulties, and the sense of responsibility to link one's core mission with the nation." His rigorous reasoning and fluent delivery, along with his composed response to the judges' questions, earned unanimous recognition.

In the graduate employment track, master's degree student Zhang Zeli anchored himself at the national 6G strategic high ground and delivered an outstanding roadshow titled "Chasing Light, Surpassing Boundaries, Empowering the Future with Intelligence." Targeting the position of algorithm expert at Huawei's 2012 Laboratories, he vividly depicted the hardcore journey of a veteran transitioning into a "scientific research vanguard." Facing the cutting-edge challenges of the communication physical layer, he confidently demonstrated the theoretical foundation documented in his 100,000-character research notes, his cross-domain transfer of AI algorithms and successful reproduction of core codes from top international journals, and the construction of a full-chain closed loop from algorithm to physical simulation. What was refreshing was how he perfectly transformed the "zero-error" execution and extreme stress resilience forged during his two years of military service into workplace competency. During the Q&A, his technical analysis was adept and his stage presence was resilient and firm, creating a striking resonance between his soldierly character of "never fading from his military commitment" and his aspiration to serve the nation through science and technology by tackling "bottleneck" challenges, leaving a profound impression on the judges.

The School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering has always regarded fostering virtue through education as its fundamental task, attaching great importance to students' career planning education and deeply integrating it into the entire process of ideological and political education, specialized teaching, and scientific research practice. The school established the "Cheng Yun" Career Studio to support various employment guidance initiatives such as career planning, résumé optimization, and interview skills. It launched the career guidance course "Personal Image Management for Employment Guidance," which was recommended to the Provincial Department of Education as a featured course under the "Double Thousand" Plan. It established the "Professor Navigation Station" to diagnose students' academic advancement and employment concerns, and initiated the "Walking with Light" series of career lectures, providing all-staff, whole-process, and all-round support for students' career development.

For this contest, the school actively mobilized over ten participants across undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels for preparation and training. Over a period of seven months, a whole-process, personalized, and systematic preparation system for the career planning contest was established, covering candidate selection, position matching, goal planning, material refinement, mock roadshows, and Q&A drills. The outstanding performance of the two students in this contest is a vivid reflection of the school's long-standing educational philosophy of the "Three at the Forefront," and fully demonstrates the remarkable results achieved in guiding students to integrate personal ideals into the great cause of national development and to align their professional expertise with urgent national strategic needs.

Moving forward, taking this contest as an opportunity, the school will summarize its preparation and participation experience, refine scientific guidance methods, and continuously improve an all-staff, whole-journey, and personalized career planning guidance service system. It will guide students to establish correct views on talent cultivation, employment, and career selection, so as to help them find their life coordinates and achieve a brilliant future on the grand journey of building a strong nation and achieving national rejuvenation, and in the dynamic practice of serving high-quality development.
