From January 31 to February 4, 2026, the 11th Asia-Pacific Optical Sensors Conference (APOS 2026) was held at the University of New South Wales, Australia. The conference was hosted by the University of New South Wales and co-organized by the Key Laboratory of In-Fiber Integrated Optics, Ministry of Education, and other institutions. Professor Zhang Jianzhong, Director of the Key Laboratory of In-Fiber Integrated Optics, Ministry of Education, served as the Program Committee Chair of the conference.

The Asia-Pacific Optical Sensors Conference, held every 18 months, is a highly influential academic and technical exchange platform in the field of optical sensing in the Asia-Pacific region. This conference attracted over a hundred scholars from China, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries. The conference specially invited renowned scholars with significant influence in optical sensing, including Professor Kenneth T. V. Grattan of City, University of London, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE); Professor David Moss, Director of the Optical Sciences Centre at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, and Fellow of IEEE and Optica; and Professor Jayanta Sahu of the University of Southampton, UK, a Fellow of Optica. They delivered plenary talks, keynote speeches, and invited talks, sharing their latest research achievements and cutting-edge advances.

This edition of the conference covered multiple cutting-edge topics, including optical fiber sensing, waveguide optics, laser technology, micro/nano photonics, and biophotonics. Associate Professor Chu Yushi of the school served on the Organizing Committee for this conference. Two young faculty members, Jin Wei and Ji Xuhao, each presented oral reports at the conference.
