May 30th marks the ninth "National Science and Technology Workers' Day". On May 28th, the main event of Heilongjiang Province's 2025 "National Science and Technology Workers' Day" was held at the Heilongjiang Provincial Science Hall. The 22nd International Conference on Optical Communications and Networks (ICOCN 2024) hosted by our university was listed on the "2024 Top Ten Academic Conferences in Heilongjiang Province".

ICOCN is a large-scale international academic conference under the auspices of IEEE, held annually. Since its establishment, it has been successfully held 22 times in Singapore, India, Thailand, Hong Kong and other places, and is currently one of the most important international conferences in the fields of optical communications, photonics and related areas. The 2024 conference hosted by our university attracted more than 420 experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from the UK, Russia, Poland, South Korea and other countries, who carried out technical discussions, product displays and demand docking around such topics as fiber optics, optical communications and networks, fiber sensing and lasers, optoelectronics, optical signal processing, microwave photonics, space optical communications, quantum optics, etc.

The successful selection as one of the top ten academic conferences in Heilongjiang Province is an important milestone in the construction of the optical engineering discipline, and a full affirmation of our university's efforts in carrying out high-level scientific research and promoting the disciplinary strength to a new height. It fully demonstrates the scientific spirit of engineering personnel in practicing "committing to innovative development and building a strong country in science and technology" with practical actions. In the future, we should devote ourselves to scientific and technological innovation practice with more enthusiasm and higher morale, actively create a good scientific research atmosphere of respecting science and advocating innovation, and demonstrate the wisdom and strength of engineering scientific and technological workers in composing the Heilongjiang chapter of Chinese-style modernization and serving the self-reliance and self-improvement of high-level science and technology.
