On the morning of February 24th, Yin Jingwei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university, visited the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering to conduct research and provide guidance on the work for the new semester. Dean Liu Zhihai presided over the meeting. Under the theme of "Anchoring Goals, Collaborating to Overcome Difficulties, and Creating New Momentum for the High-quality Development of the Physics Discipline", he gave a detailed report focusing on the key tasks in 2024 and the existing weaknesses, as well as key tasks in 2025 such as talent introduction and cultivation, team building, discipline development, and the future leading class of intelligent optoelectronic technology.

Vice Dean Jin Lei focused on the scientific research work of the school. He gave a key report on the application for research funds, planning of key tasks and major projects, application for awards, achievement transformation, and international cooperation and exchanges. Other members of the leadership team gave brief reports on their respective areas of responsibility.

In his concluding speech, Yin Jingwei pointed out that the school should fully implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his inspection of the school, firmly grasp the school-running principles of "five adherences and five focuses", and earnestly implement the spirit of the school's work conference in the spring semester of 2025. He specifically put forward six hopes and suggestions: First, the past does not represent the future, but the present determines the future. The school should deeply identify problems, analyze the causes in detail, strengthen the confidence in development, and be full of the drive for struggle. It should take the initiative and use innovative thinking to promote the high-quality development of the school. Second, the school leadership team should establish a sense of crisis, regularly conduct analysis and judgment of key tasks, study the scientific research progress of high-level similar institutions at home and abroad, find the gaps, seek breakthroughs, detect potential crises, and plan in advance. Third, the school leadership team should strengthen the sense of service, maintain close communication and exchanges, understand the needs of teachers and students, optimize the service process, strengthen training and guidance, and take the initiative to provide support, so as to achieve the development of the collective through the promotion of individuals. Fourth, it is necessary to accurately sort out the scientific research directions of the school, create interdisciplinary scientific research teams, actively organize academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation, expand the scientific research network, and improve the effectiveness of achievement transformation. Fifth, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of the talent team, continuously improve the understanding and grasp of the laws of discipline construction. Focusing on "masters + major awards", it is necessary to give play to the role of passing on experience, helping the young and guiding the new, highlight top-level design and planning, and promote new breakthroughs in the construction of the school's talent team. Sixth, it is necessary to be led by major projects and large platforms. Centering on the advantages of the school's main disciplines, it is necessary to integrate the resources of teachers, equipment, talents, etc. of the Qingdao base, and promote the rapid transformation and development of the school in a coordinated manner. Finally, Yin Jingwei put forward requirements for the school's work in comprehensively and strictly governing the Party, ideology, talent cultivation, and rectification of inspections.
