The 3rd Astronomical Fiber Technology and Applications Symposium (FiTAA2025) was successfully held from January 12 to 14, 2025, at the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Harbin Engineering University. Hosted by Harbin Engineering University and organized by the Institute of Advanced Photonics, the event brought together experts, scholars, and industry representatives from prestigious institutions including the National Astronomical Observatories, Yunnan Observatories, Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics & Technology, Institute of High Energy Physics, University of Science and Technology of China, Tsinghua University, and Yangtze Optical Fiber and Cable Co., Ltd.. Participants gathered in the "Ice City" of Harbin to engage in in-depth discussions on foundational research, cutting-edge technologies, and recent advancements in astronomical fiber optics.

Prof. Liu Zhihai, Dean of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, delivered an opening speech highlighting the school’s research strengths and development roadmap, while extending his best wishes for the symposium’s success. The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Yan Yunxiang, head of the Astronomical Photonics Division at the Institute of Advanced Photonics.

After the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Yan Yunxiang and Associate Professor Yan Qi respectively presided over the plenary session reports. For this conference, Professor Sun Weimin and Professor Geng Tao from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering of Harbin Engineering University, Dr. Mo Qi from Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company, Researcher Luo Ali, Director of the Operation and Development Center of LAMOST, a National Major Scientific and Technological Infrastructure at the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Chang Liang, Deputy Director of the Yunnan Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Huang Song from the MUST Project Team of the Department of Astronomy at Tsinghua University, Young Distinguished Researcher Liu Jia from the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as Researcher He Jinping, Researcher Yang Dehua and Dr. Liu Tongjun from the Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics & Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were invited to give plenary session reports.

At the conference, various experts engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions. Additionally, the conference featured a poster presentation exchange and an exhibition on astronomical fiber technology, with a very enthusiastic atmosphere in the venue.
