On November 24, 2024, the national final of the 10th National College Students' Physics Experiment Competition (Innovation) came to an end at Beihang University. Five teams from Harbin Engineering University participated and won 1 national first prize, 2 second prizes, and 2 third prizes. Harbin Engineering University was awarded the Outstanding Organization Prize in the 10th National College Students' Physics Experiment Competition (Innovation).
The National College Students' Physics Experiment Competition (CUPEC for short) is sponsored by the Physics Discipline Group of the Joint Conference of National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers, the National Research Society for Experimental Physics Teaching in Colleges and Universities, and the Physics Teaching Committee of the Chinese Physical Society. It has been selected for the ranking list of college students' competitions in national ordinary colleges and universities and has a wide influence across the country. This year's event brought together elite students from colleges and universities across the country. A total of 667 colleges and universities, 2755 teams, and 15715 contestants participated, and finally 548 teams from 280 colleges and universities entered the on-site final. The competition set up four competition categories: propositional works, self-selected works, physics experiment lecturing, and micro-video, combining theoretical depth and practical challenges.
In recent years, the college has adhered to talent cultivation as the center, formed a teaching concept of "solid foundation, emphasis on practice, promotion of interdisciplinary, and strengthening of innovation", continuously deepened the new engineering reform of engineering physics, promoted the deep integration of theoretical and experimental courses, and, led by project-based teaching, built a four-in-one physics practice platform of "course - competition - research - innovation". The college attached great importance to this competition, carefully organized and made careful arrangements. After the school selection, a total of 5 teams were sent to participate. Under the careful guidance of the instructor team, the participating students gave full play to their professional expertise and innovative thinking, overcame numerous difficulties, completed multiple high-level innovative experimental works, and finally achieved excellent results. This competition provided a valuable platform for students to learn from each other, communicate and showcase, further cultivated students' spirit of loving science, diligent exploration, daring to practice, and daring to innovate, effectively improved students' comprehensive design ability, expression ability, and teamwork ability, and laid a solid foundation for future participation in other high-level competitions.
