Song Mingzhao was selected into a
national-level talent program in 2021. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering, Zhejiang University, and later was dispatched by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to pursue a doctoral degree at the Faculty of Physics and Engineering, ITMO University in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where he earned his PhD in Radio Physics in 2019. From 2019 to 2020, he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at ITMO University.
His main research focuses on artificial electromagnetic media, electromagnetic energy manipulation, and electrically small antennas. He has proposed a variety of novel wireless power transfer systems based on all-dielectric high-Q resonators, metasurface relays, and multimode metasurface transmitters. These achievements have been published multiple times in top academic journals such as
Nature Electronics,
Physical Review Letters,
Applied Physics Reviews, and
Applied Physics Letters, and have received coverage from several international media outlets.
