To thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on scientific and technological innovation and popularization of science, and to carry out the action plan of the Year of Breakthrough in the Industrialization of Scientific and Technological Achievements in Heilongjiang Province, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Heilongjiang Science and Technology Week and Month of Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation was held in the Sunshine Hall of the Qihang Activity Center at Harbin Engineering University (HEU) on May 24, just ahead of the 9th National Science and Technology Workers’ Day. Zhang Qixiang, Vice Governor of Heilongjiang Province, attended and delivered a speech. Gao Yan, Secretary of the CPC HEU Committee, and Yin Jingwei, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC HEU Committee and Vice President of HEU, were also present. Representatives from member units of the Provincial Joint Conference on Science Popularization, science and technology workers, and teachers and students from universities and colleges, as well as other sectors of society, participated in the event.
This year's event featured a science popularization interactive exhibition and a scientific and technological achievements exhibition themed on new quality productive forces. The science popularization interactive exhibition focused on artificial intelligence, biotechnology, new energy, etc. By virtue of VR/AR technologies and intelligent robots, it offered immersive experience activities such as aerospace knowledge quizzes and scientific experiment demonstrations. In the legal consultation area, materials on science and technology-related laws and regulations were distributed on-site to provide legal protection for science and technology workers and enterprises. The creative area for science popularization works integrated scientific research elements into artistic creation, allowing the public to experience the fun and power of science through the integration of science and art.
Associate Professor Cang Yan’s research team from the School of Information and Communication Engineering of HEU was interviewed as a representative. She stated, “We hope to find more local partners in the province through achievement matching and roadshow activities, promote the demonstration application of intelligent breeding equipment in large-scale farms, and facilitate the digital transformation and upgrading of animal husbandry in Longjiang.”
With the theme of “Committed to Innovative Development, Building a Powerful Country through Science and Technology”, the 2025 Heilongjiang Science and Technology Week was integrated with the National Science and Technology Workers’ Day for the first time, deeply embedded in the “Year of Breakthrough in the Industrialization of Scientific and Technological Achievements” campaign, and held simultaneously with the “Month of Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation”. Over the next month, the province will host a series of distinctive scientific and technological activities, including the “From Laboratory to Market: Addressing the Pain Points in the Industrialization of Achievements” Salon on the Industrialization of Scientific and Technological Achievements, the “Shared Dreams of Ice and Snow, Building Dreams in Longjiang” Event on the Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements in Meteorological Services for the Ice and Snow Economy, the “Deep Blue Smart Manufacturing, Creating a Shared Future” Event for Matching Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation to Empower New Quality Productive Forces, the “Light of Scientific Innovation, Coexisting with Artistic Charm” Exhibition of Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation in Universities, the China-Russia Youth Exchange Activities on Science Popularization and Culture, and the Science Popularization Tour in Jixi, the “Capital of Graphite in China”. It will continuously deepen the innovation-driven development, accelerate the construction of a collaborative innovation ecosystem featuring “government-industry-university-research-application” collaboration, and contribute to building a powerful country through science and technology and boosting the revitalization and development of Longjiang. All participating teachers expressed that they had benefited a lot. In the future, they will further optimize patent layout in combination with their own research directions to support the high-quality development of the university.
