From July 21 to 23, the 13th National Undergraduate Optoelectronic Design Competition (Northeast Division) and the 9th Northeast China Undergraduate Optoelectronic Design Competition, hosted by the Chinese Optical Society and undertaken by the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering of Harbin Engineering University, was grandly held at our university. Nearly 1,000 contestants from more than 50 universities, including Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin Engineering University, Dalian University of Technology, Changchun University of Science and Technology, Northeastern University, and Northeast Electric Power University, gathered for this optoelectronic event.
The Northeast China Undergraduate Optoelectronic Design Competition is an important innovative practice platform for college students majoring in optoelectronics and related fields in the three northeastern provinces. It is also a key carrier for cultivating top innovative talents in the optoelectronic field, promoting regional academic exchange and cooperation in optoelectronic disciplines, and serving the development of the national optoelectronic information industry.
On the morning of July 22, the opening ceremony of the competition was grandly held in the Competition Hall of the Gymnasium of our university. A total of 14 key leaders and members of the National and Northeast China Undergraduate Optoelectronic Design Competition Committee, as well as the School leaders, attended the opening ceremony. Vice Dean Song Mingzhao hosted the opening ceremony. On behalf of the organizing unit, Dean Liu Zhihai delivered a speech, extending a welcome to the guests, teachers and students participating in the competition, and briefly introducing the development history, disciplinary characteristics and other basic information of the university and the School. Finally, Liu Zhihai wished the competition a complete success and the participating students excellent results. Fu Yuegang, Vice Chairman of the National Undergraduate Optoelectronic Design Competition Committee and Vice President of Changchun University of Science and Technology, delivered a speech for the competition. He expressed gratitude to Harbin Engineering University and universities in the Northeast Division for their support, hoped all participants could gain inspiration and harvest from it, and wished the competition a complete success.
The final of this Northeast Division Competition set two competition formats: physical object competition and creative competition. The physical object competition included two topics. Topic 1 "Laser Confrontation of Intelligent Vehicles" simulated the confrontation of real optoelectronic technology applications; Topic 2 "Optical Non-Destructive Measurement of Micropore Parameters with Large Depth-Diameter Ratio" focused on scientific research exploration under extreme conditions. The physical object competition was held in the Competition Hall of the Gymnasium, while the creative competition took place in the Huanghai Hall and Donghai Hall of the Qihang Activity Center.
In this competition, 136 teams demonstrated the collision of wisdom and speed in the "Laser Confrontation of Intelligent Vehicles" arena; 67 teams explored the frontier of precision measurement in the "Optical Non-Destructive Measurement of Micropore Parameters with Large Depth-Diameter Ratio" project; 79 creative teams competed for gold, silver and bronze cups in the roadshow, shining with sparks of brilliant ideas. With full enthusiasm, rigorous attitude and fighting spirit, the contestants devoted themselves to the competition. They tested their knowledge in the competition, broke through themselves in challenges, broadened their horizons in exchanges, and fully demonstrated the outstanding demeanor and innovative potential of college students in Northeast China!
After intense competition, 45 teams including "Cosmic Invincible Super Ultraman Team" from Harbin Institute of Technology won the first prize in the Laser Confrontation of Intelligent Vehicles category; 45 teams including "Chasing Light and Electricity" from Harbin Institute of Technology claimed the first prize in the Optical Non-Destructive Measurement of Micropore Parameters with Large Depth-Diameter Ratio category; 4 teams such as "Optical Touch Future Team" from Harbin Engineering University obtained the Gold Cup in the creative competition roadshow; 26 institutions including Changchun University of Science and Technology won the Excellent Organization Award; and 248 teachers including Chen Guangda from Beihua University received the Excellent Instructor Award. In this Northeast Division Optoelectronic Design Competition, the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering won a total of 29 first prizes, 20 second prizes, 1 Gold Cup, 2 Silver Cups, 3 Bronze Cups, and 1 Excellent Organization Award. Additionally, 29 teachers including Zhu Zheng were honored with the Excellent Instructor Award.
The successful holding of this competition not only provided a stage for optoelectronic major students from universities in Northeast China to showcase their talents and promoted inter-university academic exchanges and cooperation, but also reserved a large number of outstanding innovative talents for China's optoelectronic field.
