Zhao Yuxin, Member of the University Party Committee Standing Committee and Vice President, Conducts Research and Guides the Construction of the National-Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Physics

On the morning of June 4, Zhao Yuxin, Member of the University Party Committee Standing Committee and Vice President, went to the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering to conduct research on the construction of the National-Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Physics. He Jian, Vice Dean of the Undergraduate School, accompanied the research. Liu Zhihai, Dean of the School and Director of the National-Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Physics, presided over the research briefing. Meng Ting, Secretary of the Party Committee, Liu Lijing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Jiang Haili, Vice Dean, Zhang Yu, Vice Dean, Zhang Xiaojun, Assistant Dean and Deputy Director of the National-Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Physics, and Ren Yongzhi, Assistant Dean, attended the meeting.

Liu Zhihai reported on the development and construction of the National-Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Physics. Various construction achievements have strongly supported the university's undergraduate program assessment and the cultivation of "engineering" talents in the new era. He also sorted out the main problems existing in the center. For the next step, the center will closely align with the strategic needs of building a strong country and a strong military, deepen the connotative development of experimental projects, deeply integrate artificial intelligence technology, comprehensively optimize the experimental teaching process, and continuously improve the quality of talent cultivation.

Zhao Yuxin fully affirmed the development and construction achievements of the School and the National-Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Physics. Centering on the university’s strategic planning, current development orientation and future construction direction, he put forward four requirements for the School and the Demonstration Center:

First, the school’s leadership team should continue to advance the in-depth implementation of the university’s “Five Adherences and Five Emphases” school-running principles, deeply understand the university’s strategic layout for “engineering” talent cultivation in the new era, accurately grasp the core essence of major arrangements such as the “Nine Systems and Ten Projects”, the construction of Xinghai College and the six platform courses for emerging engineering disciplines, effectively enhance political stance, build consensus, and formulate forward-looking plans.

Second, the School should deeply grasp the trend of educational reform in the artificial intelligence era, focus on advancing the innovation of AI-empowered experimental teaching systems, systematically plan the cultivation of high-level teaching achievements such as national teaching achievement awards, and comprehensively enhance the demonstration role and influence of teaching construction.

Third, with the National-Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Physics as the core carrier, build a future learning center, focus on advancing the innovation of paths for transforming knowledge into capabilities, and realize the “four-dimensional integration” of learning space, practice space, innovation space and quality development space. Improve the efficiency of space utilization by optimizing the laboratory management model, and make overall plans for the introduction of high-level experimental teachers. Give full play to the advantages of physics discipline in basic teaching, take the construction of the National-Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Physics as a key driver, continue to deepen the reform and innovation of education and teaching, and provide strong support for the cultivation of outstanding engineering talents in the new era.

Fourth, take the construction of Xinghai College as an opportunity to promote the construction and reform of basic physics-related courses, clarify and plan the goals, positioning and training model for cultivating “intelligent optoelectronics” leading talents in Xinghai College, and thereby promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional optoelectronic information science and engineering majors.

Finally, Zhao Yuxin put forward requirements for the School regarding the comprehensive and strict governance of the Party, the thematic education and learning on in-depth implementation of the spirit of the Central Committee’s Eight-Point Regulation, and ideological work. This research has pointed out the direction for the School’s experimental teaching and innovative talent cultivation. The School will earnestly implement the guiding opinions of the university leaders, accelerate the intelligent upgrading of the National-Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Physics, and contribute to the university’s “Double First-Class” construction and the national cultivation of scientific and technological talents.
