From September 30 to October 12, 2024, 11 undergraduates from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering went to Thailand for a two-week study tour at Mahidol University. In order to stimulate the enthusiasm of the majority of students to participate in overseas research and study activities and enhance the academic exchanges between domestic and foreign universities, on October 30, the college organized an "Overseas Research and Study Sharing Session - Mahidol University in Thailand" in the No. 02 lecture hall of Yifu Building. The sharing session was presided over by Teacher Yang Di, the teacher in charge of this research and study. Student representatives of overseas research and study, Liu Zhe, Yang Bozhi, Wen Shuhao, Yu Xinran, and Quan Kangle, came to the stage to share. Members of the college's Youth League Committee, Student Union, Party Building Center, and some students from the freshman, sophomore, and junior years of the Physics College were present to listen.

As the leader in charge of this research and study activity, Teacher Yang Di introduced in detail the project background of the research and study at Mahidol University in Thailand to the students. He pointed out that this research and study activity, in cooperation with a famous university in Thailand, is conducive to the improvement of students' academic and practical abilities, promotes the cultural exchanges and cooperation between our college and internationally renowned universities, and provides valuable opportunities for the all-round development of students. Teacher Yang Di encouraged the students to maintain an open mind and actively participate in the overseas exchange activities organized by the school and the college.

Student Yang Bozhi shared the itinerary during the research and study period, which included academic activities such as attending lectures, seminars, and laboratory visits; cultural experiences like visiting historical sites, museums, and experiencing local activities; and life experiences such as staying with local families, tasting Thai cuisine, and experiencing the daily life in Thailand. Yang Bozhi shared his own research and study experiences, indicating that the research and study had a great tempering effect and enabled students to have a clearer international perspective.

Student Wen Shuhao, by explaining the history and culture of Thailand, introducing the development history of Mahidol University, and sharing the research and study content, deeply understood the history, culture and customs of Thailand; carried out academic exchanges with the teachers and students of well-known Thai universities such as Mahidol University to broaden the academic vision; and improved the practical application ability of Thai or English through interactions with the local people.

Student Yu Xinran shared the insights and experiences of this research and study, stating that the purpose of this activity was to help students broaden their horizons, understand the requirements and procedures of research and study activities, and encourage students to actively participate in research and study practical activities. This is beneficial for cultivating students' international and diversified cultural concepts and thinking habits, and enhancing students' perceptual understanding and discrimination ability of the international education model.

Student Quan Kangle talked about the gains from the research and study. He believed that this research and study activity broadened horizons and opened up minds, cultivated practical abilities and the ability to solve problems, strengthened teamwork and interpersonal communication skills, and improved the ability for international cooperation and exchanges. He encouraged students to take the initiative to participate, enhance their ability for international cooperation and exchanges through personal experiences, and lay a solid foundation for becoming compound talents with an international perspective.

Student Liu Zhe talked about the relevant academic exchange activities in this research and study project. The students not only learned the latest scientific research achievements and cutting-edge technologies, but also experienced the rigorous academic attitude and profound academic foundation of Thai scholars. He said, "This research and study activity provided us with an opportunity to deeply understand the Thai culture, education system and social system. At the same time, it promoted international academic exchanges and cooperation and enhanced the practical application of disciplinary knowledge. Through the interaction with the teachers and students of Mahidol University, we can combine the theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom with the actual situation, so as to understand and apply the learned knowledge more deeply."

Finally, Yang Di summarized the sharing session of the research and study activity at Mahidol University in Thailand and encouraged the students to actively participate in long-term and short-term international exchange research and study activities, broaden their international horizons, improve their international communication and communication abilities, continuously study the world-leading and cutting-edge disciplinary knowledge, and cultivate forward-looking thinking and an international perspective.

The School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, centering on the school-running principles of "five adherences and five emphases", attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' international vision, continuously deepens international cooperation, takes the initiative to dock, explores new paths for talent cultivation, continuously improves the quality of talent cultivation, encourages and guides students to actively participate in international research and study projects, and provides international exchange opportunities for undergraduates with excellent academic and moral qualities. Subsequently, the college will also continue to make efforts in policy formulation, funding proportion, and resource expansion to help students further broaden their international horizons, enhance international academic exchanges, apply what they have learned during the research and study process, promote learning through application, expand their knowledge, and improve themselves.
