In order to deeply study the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the National Education Conference and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his inspection of the school, from September 12th to 13th, 2024, the Symposium on Dual Integration and Promotion of the Physics Schools of the Seven Universities of Industry and Information Technology was held in the VIP Hall of the Qihang Activity Center of our university. Focusing on the implementation of the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, deeply promoting the integration of Party building and business work, and jointly discussing how to more actively serve the construction of a strong country in education, science and technology, and talent, and focus on cultivating a new generation who can take on the great responsibility of national rejuvenation. The Party secretaries, deans, vice deans and other relevant responsible persons of the Physics Schools of the seven universities directly under the Ministry of Education participated in the meeting. Geng Jing, the assistant to the president and the executive vice dean of the Undergraduate School, attended and delivered a welcome speech.

The participants jointly reviewed the spirit of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection of Harbin Engineering University. Everyone unanimously believed that on the occasion of the first anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's inspection of the school, universities directly under the ministry should further enhance their political stance, remember the entrustment, bravely take on responsibilities, combine the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his inspection of the school with the study and implementation of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and with the study and implementation of the spirit of the National Education Conference and the National Science and Technology Conference, and transform them into the ability and level to promote the construction of a strong education country and make new contributions.

Geng Jing delivered a welcome speech. She extended a warm welcome to the colleagues from sister universities and expressed her gratitude to the leaders and teachers of the physics departments of various universities for their support for this conference. She said that as a fundamental discipline that the school focuses on developing, the physics discipline has been always committed to frontier science and technological innovation, serving the needs of national defense and industrial modernization. It has received high attention and strong support from the school and has played an important and remarkable supporting role in the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents and basic research work in the school. She hoped that the experts present at the meeting could put forward more valuable opinions and suggestions on the talent cultivation and discipline construction work of the physics department of our school.

Liu Zhihai, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and dean of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering of our university, said when presiding over the seminar and exchange meeting on Party building work on the morning of the 12th that this meeting had created a precious opportunity for jointly exploring new paths and methods for Party building and talent cultivation work in the physics departments of the seven universities affiliated with the ministry. This was not only a rare opportunity for exchange and learning, but also an important occasion for making progress together. It was hoped that this seminar could transform the learning achievements into practical effects that would promote the Party building and talent cultivation work in the physics departments of the seven universities to a new level, and turn them into a powerful force to help the universities advance the construction of Chinese modernization.

During the exchange and discussion session, Meng Ting, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering at Harbin Engineering University; Li Guangchao, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physics at Beihang University; Chen Ke, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physics at Beijing Institute of Technology; Chao Xiaorong, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physical Sciences and Technology at Northwestern Polytechnical University; Chen Xiuwen, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physics at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Li Hongtao, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physics at Nanjing University of Science and Technology; and Wu Yan, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physics at Harbin Institute of Technology respectively gave reports and shared their experiences, methods and achievements in Party building work.

On the afternoon of the 12th, after visiting the Harbin Military Engineering Institute Memorial Hall together and renewing their vows of joining the Communist Party of China, the participants jointly held exchanges and discussions on talent cultivation work. Meng Ting delivered a concluding speech. She said that as universities affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, building instruments for the country and strengthening China's national defense are the common missions and responsibilities, and the talent cultivation work of the physics departments of each university should have its own characteristics and shine in its own way. As an important foundation of natural sciences, the physics discipline plays an irreplaceable role in promoting scientific and technological innovation and serving national strategies. The physics departments of each university have unique roles and positions in the talent cultivation systems of their respective schools. How to further promote the in-depth integration of Party building and talent cultivation work, stimulate the innovative vitality of teachers and students, convince people with "reason", cultivate more outstanding physics talents with a sense of patriotism, scientific spirit and innovative ability, and let them travel around the world and go to the places where the motherland needs them most is the core task of this seminar. It is hoped that this seminar can help improve the levels of Party building and talent cultivation work in the physics departments of each university, and that the Party Building Alliance of the Physics Departments of the Seven Universities affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology can play a greater role in the future, build consensus, appreciate each other's strengths, and work hand in hand to make new contributions to promoting the construction of a powerful country and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
