1. School Profile
Harbin Engineering University is located in the beautiful city of Harbin, known as the "Ice City," on the banks of the picturesque Songhua River in northern China. The university traces its origins back to PLA Military Institute of Engineering, which was established in 1953. In 1970, based on the full-scale establishment of the Navy Engineering Department and other departments (sections) and a portion of faculty and staff, Harbin College of Shipbuilding Engineering was established at the original site known as PLA Military Institute of Engineering. In 1994, the institute was renamed Harbin Engineering University. The university has been affiliated with the Sixth Mechanical Industry Department, China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and the Commission of Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defense. Currently, it is under the administration of Ministry of Industry and Information Techonology of the People's Republic of China. In 2007, the university became a jointly constructed institution by the Commission of Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defense, the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province, and the Navy. In 2019, it further became a jointly constructed institution by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province, and the People's Government of Harbin City.
In 1978, the university was designated as a key national university by the State Council. It was one of the first institutions authorized to confer doctoral and master's degrees and was among the initial batch of universities selected for the "211 Project," a national initiative aimed at key university construction. In 2002, the university was approved to establish a Graduate School. In 2011, it became a participant in the national "985 Project," which focuses on building world-class disciplines. In 2017, the university was included in the national "Double First-Class" initiative. It serves as an important talent cultivation and scientific research base in the fields of shipbuilding, naval equipment, marine development, and nuclear energy applications, collectively known as the "Three Seas and One Core" strategy.
Over the past 70 years, the university has upheld and carried forward the spirit of "Harbin Military Engineering" advocated by the older generation of revolutionaries. It has developed a value pursuit that prioritizes the needs of the motherland, considers national defense as its primary mission, and regards satisfying the people as its ultimate standard. The university's motto embodies the spirit of pursuing excellence and truth. 2. College Profile
1)History:
The College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering offers two undergraduate programs. The "Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering" program was selected as one of the first national-level first-class undergraduate programs and received engineering education professional certification in early 2022. The " Applied Physics " program started enrolling students in 2021. The College has three authorized master's degree programs, including "Optical Engineering" and "Physics" as first-level disciplines, and a professional master's degree program in "Electronic Information." It also has one authorized doctoral degree program in "Optical Engineering," as well as a postdoctoral research station in "Optical Engineering." The discipline of Optical Engineering is recognized as an "Emerging Cross-Disciplinary" discipline by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is a key discipline in Heilongjiang Province. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation, it ranked among the top 30% nationally.
The College adheres to the educational principles of "having lofty aspirations, striving for self-improvement, seeking truth and pragmatism, and dedicating to learning for the benefit of society." It follows the guiding ideology of "strengthening the foundation of science, empowering engineering, combining science and engineering, and promoting coordinated development." 6.Recruitment Plan
1)Recruitment Plan:
(1)Disciplinary directions include Physics, Optics, Electronic Information, Materials, and related interdisciplinary fields. Candidates should be physically and mentally healthy, have rigorous academic research, and possess both moral character and talent.
(2)Candidates should be under the age of 35, hold a doctoral degree from a top domestic or international university, and preference will be given to those with postdoctoral experience or overseas experience. Exceptionally outstanding young talents may be directly recruited as Associate Professors or Professors.
(3)For exceptionally outstanding talents or those urgently needed by the university, the university will provide more favorable policy support in terms of work and living conditions through individualized negotiations.
(4)Work locations: Harbin, Qingdao, Yantai.
2)Related Benefits:
Enjoy a pre-tax basic salary ranging from 230,000 to 350,000 RMB per year (including various insurance and housing fund contributions from the institution), and may participate in the performance distribution of the college and grassroots teams based on work performance.
Full-time teachers with a doctoral degree are eligible for housing subsidies ranging from 1 to 10 million RMB, research startup funding ranging from 1 to 2 million RMB, and associate professors or above will receive settlement fees ranging from 1 to 10 million RMB, as well as temporary housing or single-person dormitories. Postdoctoral annual salary starts at 450,000 RMB or above.
Particularly outstanding young scholars can negotiate specific benefits on a case-by-case basis.
